About

About a Cause for Country

A Cause for Country Foundation design is to provide a venue for Canadian Country Music Artists in the Edmonton Area and at the same time raise funds for the A Cause For Country Foundation which suppports the Lions Foundation of Canada’s Dog Guides. A Cause For Country was the brain child of Ron and Stacy Palmer who’s son was the recipient of a Autism Alert Dog from the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides.  Since recieving the black lab 2 years ago their son has been able to relax more and become more interactive.  The Service Dog has also detected seizures and assists in everyday activities and on vacations. As a result Ron and Stacy have put their resources together to help raise funds so that others can be recipients of a service dog if they need one.   The cost to raise one dog varies but is usually up to $25000 per animal from conception to complete training, care and followup.  There is no cost to the families who recieve the animals.
A Cause For Country started in 2016, as a concert to raise some money for charity, that benefits the community as well as the recipient. In its second year will be expanding to a 3 day festival involving local, national and internationally renowned Canadian Country music artists.  The A Cause for Country Foundation is done completely on a volunteer basis meaning that none of the officers are paid for their work on the event and our team is built completely with volunteers.  Once expenses for the event are deducted the money raised is then split amongst the charities as designated by the directors and the bylaws of the foundation.  The Intention of the Foundation is to support local, provincial and national charities that meet the criteria as determined by the foundation’s by-laws. A Cause for Country is also looking at expanding the Foundation’s presence to all provinces with the next 2 being in Ontario and British Columbia, this will reduce some of the costs while allowing more artists the opportunity to perform and show their support for the foundation.

Why Canadian Country Music?

Ron Palmer has been a photographer supporting the Canadian Country Music industry for over 10 Years. With his contacts in the industry and being a member of the Alberta Country Music Association, he felt that this was a great way to bring Canadian Country Music Artists to a festival atmosphere at the same time providing support for a great Cause.
